Why would you want the most recent post at the top?

Most recent is always best (probably the one design concept that the fake boards got right). It means you can jump into a thread checking the last ten replies in one click, otherwise it does get a bit long.

You can just click on 'view newest post' which takes you to the first new post since you last read that thread, or 'view latest post' which takes you to, well, the latest post. It's a lot less time consuming than having to scroll through.
