Is is weird starting a conversation with somebody on Facebook chat?

If they're not on msn they've either blocked you or they're appearing offline and don't want to talk to you enough to come online.

I talk to people on facebook chat but only people I don't have on msn.

I'm not a fan of real-time online conversation.

I hate facebook chat because you can't tell whether its taking them ages to reply because they don't notice the tab flashing or whether they're just outright ignoring you!

I just find the phenomenon utterly absurd.

Why?

It enables you to talk to people in other countries without paying a fucking massive phone bill.

That's practical for arrangements and business deals, but most people use such functions for waffling on about nothing when they could be spending their time more productively.

I use Facebook Chat much more than I do on MSN. It's essential waffling tool for idle chat with mates when at work. Don't get on with Mac Messenger for MSN'ing all that well, it feels about fourteen versions old compared to the standard Live Messenger on Windows.

Get amsn for mac.

I actually hate using the facebook messenger, because the noise is not loud enough and I always forget that I'm talking to someone and then people get mad at me. Also, the emotes such arse.

Nah. I like limiting it to one at a time. Facebook holds the edge for work, as my IRL friends use it a lot more in their offices due to lack of MSN themselves at their workstations. Talking to people from t'internets requires too much attention for any instant messaging when at work - easier to just post on messageboards.

No, Narg. A PC would suck major cock, as I'd have nothing at all to idle about on, as it'd mean being on the corporate network, with all it's incredible failures, rather than a stand-alone one for Mac users, which goes pretty much unrestricted.

Don't alot of companies block Facebook at work now? I didn't use any social network style things when I was working.

If I worked in an office and couldn't piss around on the internet I think I'd cry a bit.

I think I could but I heard that 2 other temps got sacked for going on Facebook, so I decided against it after that!!

Double standards though, I saw the IT guys on Facebook!!

Some companies do block it. Mine does, hence why I'm making sure I keep a machine off network :p
