| It's one of those comedies that doesn't work as well for me without a laughter track.
Still enjoyed it enough though. Big Suze was in it!

| I've got to admit...Back To Earth Part 1 was actually funnier than series VII & VIII and most of VI. It was still a bit dodgy in places but I think it was decent effort...mainly because it featured some old school bastardness from Rimmer.

| Erm... a seven out of ten for me. The crap squid effects were total classic Dwarf, and Rimmer cutinshness was good. No Holly and a complete and utter lack of explanation for the cliffhanger of Only The Good... upset me. The new sets look brilliant, if not like a load of cash has been well and truly spunked on it. I did like the new character in Katerina, but honestly, she's no Chloe Annette. Still, looking forward to tonight's episode. | |

| "She's no Chloe Annette"?
No offence but Annette was one of the reasons why the show became unfunny. All Naylor brought her in for was so he could have some outdated jokes about women. She's also a really bad comedy actress (unless you found the awful Crime Traveller really funny).
I'm glad they didn't explain what happened in Series VIII, because as far as I'm concerned that and Series VII doesn't fucking exist.

| Yeah, but Chloe was pretty fucking fit. That excuses all the arguably deserved criticism that you (and others) have bestowed upon her. And Crime Traveller was amazing for that dodgy bright yellow mac that David Wickes from Eastenders wore.
To be fair, the show became unfunny because they decided to dump the Dwarf, dump Holly, and face villain-of-the-week style villains. There's still bits of VII that I really like, Tikka to Ride is fucking brilliant, and the Rimmer Munchkin song is one of the best ever Dwarf moments. VIII was cunting appalling though.

| I didn't mind that they lost Holly at one point. Since they made Kryten the one who knew everything, it seemed redundant to have a head pop up and make a silly joke. I'd say they were right to cut out Holly in Back To Earth. The original version's return in the later series was pretty lame. He didn't really have much to do other than fan service and say 'Wassup, dudes?' a lot.
They've had monster of the week since Series IV (maybe even III) and it was funny back then. I'd say Series V was probably the last series where the good outweighed the bad, mainly because it was still a sitcom back then.

| I'm a massive fan of both Hollys. The only Holly-centric episode in Queeg is ridiculously awesome. But yeah, once Kryen showed up as a permanent cast member, it lessened the role horribly. I've never been too keen that Kryten just seems to know far too much for a bog-bot. Even Holly was clueless on a few things.
Three certainly wasn't monster of the week. There was only Polymorph, and Hudzen showing up in The Last Day, but the latter was much more a character exploration. Series IV's arguable, I think half were like that, but series V was when I really noticed it.

| Blade Runner piss-take. I approve.
But even before that, I must say I am enjoying this. I didn't realise it was going to get all meta.

Please, please, please let them reveal it was all the squid's doing a la the episode - Back To Reality.

Please, please, please let them reveal it was all the squid's doing a la the episode - Back To Reality. Back to Reality was exactly what I was thinking. I seriously was WTF-ing throughout. Don't get me wrong, Back to Reality is one of the all-time best episodes, but that doesn't mean they have to essentially remake it. I don't get it. I also don't get the taking the piss of probably the only sad enough cunts who'll still happily sit through it. It wasn't bad...but it just wasn't Dwarf for me. And the swearing, while minor, ain't to my taste. Hope the concluding part of it rectifies it after a strong opener. Also, what the hell is up with the sound-tracking in both episodes? What was wrong the classic Space Odysee number? Was Goodall even involved at all?

| You know what else it reminds me of?
That shit League of Gentlemen movie. The one where they all find out they're fictional characters and have to find their creators in order to stay alive.
I suspect it will have something to do with the squid though, just because Kryten and Rimmer have both hinted that Big Suze hologram shouldn't technically exist. Oh and Lister banged his head several times in the diving bell in one of those obvious 'this doesn't look important, but it is' shots.
But in a tongue-in-cheek way, we'll find that they're still ficitional characters after all (though they won't realise it).

| Never really got on with League of Gentlemen, so I've never seen it.
What is going on with the Cat and his little gold things? Am I missing something or is that supposed to be important?

| It's a piss-take of Gaff leaving unicorns and stuff in Blade Runner. Though I suspect it'll play a bigger part later on, like them finding a way back into the TV's or something. | |

| Yeah, I got the Blade Runner reference, but more than once it was zoomed in. Seemed a little bit more than a homage. | |

| So it took an hour and a half to get the same storyline that Back To Reality gave us in half an hour, in a much better and funnier way. Part three was better than part two, though, at least. | |
