I went with my old man, and his trainspotting cronies, they all went to look round Eastliegh works, I just sat in weatherspoons.

He must be a pretty dedicated train spotter to venture all the way down to Eastliegh.
I was in Skipton the week before last helping the broski move, took about six an a half hours just to get there.
That was by truck though to be fair.
How long were you on the road for?

We set off at 0350 in a taxi to Crewe, got to Crewe at about 0530 then got a train from Crewe to Eastliegh at 0640 and got to Eastliegh at 1120. It was more a day riding round on trains drinking for me.

I don't really understand what's so exciting about trainspotting. Please explain what they're actually looking for and why it's exciting.

Its about collecting data to gain control of britains transport and force it to a grinding halt.

Its a deeply flawed plan.
