I've just been to Fairburn and watched 1000 Canadian Geese migrate to Canada.

I was stood at the end of the jetty with a brolly and a Cappuccino in torrential rain.
It was great.

The old steps have gone though. Someone told me they were crumbling and no one wanted to mend them. I missed a Kingfisher by two minutes I was told but a nice man showed me his pictures.

Oh yeah ... all the crops seemed to be harvested. If I hadn't taken so many pictures of bales of straw I would have had some left for the Geese. They looked so nice with the sun on them.

It was magical. When I walked home the fields were covered in mists. It was a perfect day. Sun and torrential rain at just the right moments.

There was an older couple watching the Geese at the same time as me. I climbed on the bottom rung of the fence to get a better look. I could even see my house from where I was stood.
They said they had been coming to Fairburn for 20 years and they hadn't seen anything like it before. They covered two fields and they queued up until it was their time to set off. They set off at about 70 to 100 at a time. By the end the sun was going down and the last 30 or so set off together. I watched it all. They made a noise as they set off.
As well as the mist there was an orange sunset behind me and a big faint crescent moon in front of me to the right then venus appeared to my left over my house. I crossed over the road to have one last look at the straw bales as it was getting dark.

I'm not sure it was Venus. It looked like a planet anyway.
