TDC wasn't a bad book really, it's hardly high brow literature, but a good story none the less, the same applies to AnD.

The whole point of the book (that women are equal to men) is completely fucked over by the film because they made the woman into a total fucktard that can't solve puzzles and just runs around after Tom Hanks.

The book is poorly written, but the concept was interesting. The film is only good for Paul Bettany's arse and Ian McKellen. You're not missing much.
