where the fk have they gone? early 1990's there were tones of them... courntney love, trent reznor, smashing pumpkins, soundgarden, nirvana... alice in chains - im not much of a fan of theirs though.
looking at a billy corgan interview.. he suggested that Elvis was the iconic innovator... others who had the same status like the beattles, U2, Nirvana. There hasnt been one for a while... infact there hasnt been a great new band in a while like there were in the 1990's.
There is no pink floyd... i havent heard much of pink floyd... but the closest I can come up with current acts today is radiohead.... or Tool? (i know radiohead and Tool cant be compared to eachother).
There seems to be a problem with individuality... as corgan said, companies expect artists to 'act like individuals, but dont sacrifice like individuals'..... spose there is not enough rebellion.
Maybe it is unfair to post this message in this board... the great acts of the past all seem to be american... therefore something fundimentally is wrong with their scene.... although even in the 1980's and 1990's... the british music scene was better than it is now.
