Vagrant story was horrificly over complicated and stat heavy.

And plain shat.

Vandal hearts is brilliant and made me an RPG fan, suiko 2 is one of the most grown up games going and wild arms was a great little RPG with loads to see and do.

Oh and Jason, Vandal Hearts is not an RPG - it's a strategy game.

It was more RPGish than tomb raider 2 is platformihs, so shush.

It had experience points and shops, and lvling up and a complex little story, the battles were just a bit different.

I suppose the "out of map" stuff was RPGish... you're right. I loved that gane, but the second was poor

The second was fucking horrific....what twat though having both your characters and the enemy move at the same time was a good idea.

Did you play any of the suikoden games?

I rented the original for the PS1 a few times, pretty awesome really. I should really dig my PS1 games out again... did you ever play Jade Cocoon?

Suiko 2 was better, you could use the save from suiko 1 to get a few cool extras in suiko 2, plus it was brilliant seeing quite a few of the suiko 1 characters return, and suiko 2 had one of the most grown up plots I've seen in a game.

I played a demo of that I think....if its what I'm thinking....

Turn based battles... you capture monsters and merge them with others to create hybrids or sell them for silk. One of the best titles the PS1 had.

Yeah thats the one, it seemed okay but didn't hook me.

They left a lot out of the demo. The first world is a bit slow, but the rest are awesome. I also like it because you have to play the four worlds again in an "evil" kind of mode... similar to the Lord of the Rings RPG.

9 was fun, better than 10,11 and 12 thats for certain.
