Stagnant gaming

Yeah, we've had Wii, online gaming and HD in recent times but where has gaming got left to go ?
Let's face it, unless there's some exponential leap in AI or VR then in 10 years time we'll still be shooting Germans, driving round tracks and running down dark corridors punching monsters.

We had VR about 15 years ago.

It failed BADLY. Don't count on the games industry ever giving it another go. It's gone the way of FMV games starring Mark Hamill, Dennis Hopper and Malcolm McDowell.

Which ain't a bad thing either...

I feel like that Victorian bloke who wanted to close the patents office because he reckoned everything had been invented that was ever going to be.
But it's hard to see games in the immediate future being little more than jazzed up versions of current ones.

Thats what they always have been.

In truth the current crop of consoles are a bigger leap than the crop before them were, PS2 was just a better looking PS1, but the PS3 has alot more to it due to the online aspects.

Online will probably be even more relevant in the next lot of consoles, and god knows what nintendo will come up with.

this is why none of us are employed as ideas people. if we knew where things were headed we'd be fucking loaded.

Besides, we'll all be dead by the time we get to the PS4, Xbox 720 and Nintendo EWE.
