| So recently the council have been re-building my old school because it was getting too old really, it wasn't very nice. They built it on the old school field next to the old one. Some bright spark decided that the old one needed to be burnt down, so now its up in flames!! FIRE!!! FIRE!!! |

I'm glad that they banned it in public places, but I'm glad that some people smoke it keeps my (future) taxes low How? Because the revenue from cigarette duties are about three times the estimated cost that smoking related illness have on the NHS. Cigarette duties are around £10billion, and the cost to the NHS dealing with the effects is about £3billion. |

| So? Income tax and tobacco duty aren't linked. | |

| Well in the sense that if the government wants the same level of spending then a fall in tobacco duties means they will have to raise it from somewhere else, eg. income tax. |

| It doesn't work like that, though. They pitch for as much as they think they can get away with. | |

| I find people who think their taxes will go down if the spending in public sectors goes down.
Half the benefits could be gotten rid of and taxes wouldn't come up.
Certain wages might go up though.... | |

| Yeah, I guess. My tax lecturer jokingly told us all to carry on smoking so her taxes dont go up though. |

| I've never tried it, I'm not too keen on the smell or the price. I don't think I'd have £200 to lend somebody if I was a smoker |

| The smell of cigars aren't too bad, but actual cigarettes don't smell that nice. I liked the smell they made in pubs though when mixed with the smell of beer! |
