Fifa 09 vs. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009.

Fifa is pretty good; I've been playing it quite often for the past fortnight. I've just bought PES and I'm halfway through a match. It seems quite good, but I'd expect it to be a bit better. Is there anything particularly interesting about the new PES that I should look out for?

Apparently the makers of PES practically built the game from scratch to suit the new consoles, though.

I've played the demo...its still PES.

Its hardly rocket science, lee you hissy mother....fifa = arcadey and for people who care about license.

PES = sim for people who enjoy a bit of managment on the side.

I've heard long term Pro Evo fans moan about the current one, and in fact move to Fifa. I myself will be sticking with the Wii version of Pro Evo, though that's a different puppy entirely.

PES is actually quite good. I'm liking the speed of it and the passing. You can link a series of passes a lot quicker and realistically.

Also, Messi is amazing (surprise surprise). His movements on the ball are uncanny to real life.

I got tired of those sort of football games a long time ago mind, the players I wasn't in control of never did what I wanted them to do; hence why I like the level of control available with the Wii version.

I must admit, I thought Fifa was good, but PES is probably a lot more realistic and the graphics are astonishing. Fifa seems sluggish compared to this.

I actually nutmegged somebody(!).

I think the only reason I bought the game was to see Messi's performance. It's brilliant.

Only played Fifa 09. Fifa 08 is much better, though.

I own the FIFAs since 05 but I was Pro Evo and ISS before that. ISS was the best.

i hear theyve swapped roles somewhat in the the newest versions, with fifa playing more like a sim and pes less so.

Agreed. Though fifa 09 is much more arcadey than 08. Fifa 08 will take some beating. But for a few minor commentary glitches it remains one of the great footy sims.
