I only own 2 greatest hits album and that's by Blur and The Beatles.
I just can't get into greatest hits really. I don't even collect packages from my fave bands, unless it's some b-sides thing.

Off the top of me head...
1. Ian Dury/Blockheads 2. Carter USM 3. The Skids 4. Bob Marley and the Wailers 5. Style Council (in this case, less a Best Of, more a compilation of the worst songs Paul Weller has ever written)

I don't remember writing that, but I stand by it. If you like the Steely Dan best of, there's very few moments on any of their 70s albums that will disappoint.
Captain Beefheart, of course, is another matter entirely. This article springs to mind, although why you would force yourself to try and like him is beyond me; counting yourself as a Beefheart fan probably makes all the sexy ladies fear and loathe you.

Thanks Bryn - I shall explore Dan further but leave Beefheart as is. Deliberately trying to be leftfield is the folly of youthful naivety.
Meanwhile, back at the topic...

And the Who...only got Love Bites from the Buzzcocks in addition to a greatest hits, but that's a belter. Costello's albums are hit'n'miss. Armed Forces is cracking though.

Nah, I've not watched 'owt on VH1 in ages, tend to stick to Classic normally, for older rock - I'll give it a proper Youtube when I get in (no sound on this machine).
