Assaf Avidan and the Mojos - Weak
Speak baby speak Tell me I'm weak Tell me these promises are not mine to keep Tell me I'm ugly But tell me you love me Tell me you cannot go through this world without me
Oh I'm just a tree My roots are with her But my leaves are with thee
Heal baby heal Take all the time you will I never thought I'd say this but I'm letting go of the bill I don’t wanna see Your face here no more Still that doesn't mean that I'm shutting the door
Oh I'm just a tree My leaves are with her But my roots are with thee
I know these words are tearing you apart But I told you right from the start This is how are little song is gonna play out.

I like the lyrics to About Today by The National quite a lot. I think it's the only song that has captured the essence of a break-up or the final days/weeks of a failing relationship.
I like a lot of songs but this one springs to mind at the moment.

"Who made, who made up, made up the myth That we were born to be covered in bliss? Who set the standard, born to be rich? Such fine examples, skinny little bitch Model, role model, roll some models in blood Get some flesh to stick, so they look like us I shit and I stink, I'm real, join the club I'd stop and talk, but I'm already in love"

I wish you'd fuck off and leave my fave bands alone when you come up with shit like that. What do you do? Listen to a fucking album and try and fit your life experience into a song not even about you. Is your life like a Hollyoaks soundtrack or something? "Oh, I'm walking down the street...right now in my head Coldplay's The Scientist should play cos I'm just a bit sad..."
Then again, I guess you didn't get the underlying theme of Karen or All The Wine or something, since they were a little more complex than "Today...you went away...and I...didn't ask why..."

Good lyrics, though. I do relate to the lyrics in the song quite a bit. I suppose it is down to how people interpret the song.
What was it like shadowing Matt Berninger when it was written?

I look at it this way... For centuries now, man has done everything he can to destroy, defile, and interfere with nature: clear-cutting forests, strip-mining mountains, poisoning the atmosphere, over-fishing the oceans, polluting the rivers and lakes, destroying wetlands and aquifers... so when nature strikes back, and smacks him on the head and kicks him in the nuts, I enjoy that. I have absolutely no sympathy for human beings whatsoever. None. And no matter what kind of problem humans are facing, whether it's natural or man-made, I always hope it gets worse.

Carlin's pretty funny, but if his comments on stage represent anything like his real opinions then he can't think very straight.
