i really take issue with the 5 star/points film scoring system. i have a high 4 star and a low 4 star etc weighting system, cos not every 4 star film is of the same quality.

maybe we should just score everything out of 1. ftw or ftl. that way we dont have anyone crying over half a star like a massive sissy. its a real mans scoring system. good or bad. death or glory. no surrender.

IMDb lost all reputability when The Dark Knight jumped to #1 on the Top 250 list around the same time The Godfather "mysteriously" received thousands of '1' votes.

lol, it did? Well it is known for being abused, that doesn't mean the star rating system doesn't work.

The Southland Tales -

Barmy nonsense.

How fucking bad was Black Christmas?! I'd come to expect alot better from Morgan and Wong.

Fire & Ice -

Aside from the rather titilating/unnerving tendency for every single character to walk around in a thong for the entire film there isn't much to this 80's animation to recommend. It's entertaining enough when the guy in the bear mask shows up and starts killing all the baddies, but otherwise there's not much going on.

The Negotiator -
Sam Jackson hamming it up as a hostage negotiator/taker to enjoyable effect.

The Kingdom -
Exciting, very well shot action scenes with an interesting plot + characters who don't really suck, despite two of them being Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner. I might have given it 4 stars but I can't help but feel like I've been manipulated by a magnificent bit of American propaganda which leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth... speaking of which, I must go brush my teeth.

Zodiac -
Compulsive viewing; by the end I felt as obsessive and driven to know more as Jake Gyllenhaal. Great performances all around, but he really impressed me, along with David Fincher who managed to direct a taut, suspensful film without resorting to embellishing or exaggerating. Fantastic.

...Okay, now I'm really going to bed. Sort of.

I remember going on and on about how awesome The Negotiator would be when we went to see it in the cinema years ago. Then we actually sat through it...

It was the 2nd time in my life that I had the urge to walk out of the screening. Such a waste of a good idea.

The 1st time was Mars Attacks. An absolute fucking nightmare of a movie.

I walked out of Seven Years In Tibet...
