it needs its own thread because i love it. i love it like a fat kid love cake. i love that you can tip brahmin. i love that you get the cap off bottles of nuka-cola when you drink them and i love that my character wears shades in the dark.
rather than write a huge post telling you why else, though, i thought id bring to your attention the consolevania review which sums my own feelings up perfectly:
tell us about your adventures and your discoveries.
remember to spoiler plot points during discussion, especially those involving the main quest. thanks.

Still not bought it. But I love Oblivion, and post-apocalyptic stuff so I definitely intend to.
How does the aiming thing work, Banth? The whole 'pause the whole game to pick a limb to shoot' sounds like it'd be a bit jarring.

ah yes. v.a.t.s. its by no means a perfect system, but i dont find it particularly jarring. it feels like it should be more effective, though, as at longer ranges its usually easier just to aim manually. you get action points to spend on your shots, but they recharge quickly. i think it would have been better off being more effective, with a much slower recharge on your a.p.
the fps style aiming isnt great either but because everything else in the game feels so much like an rpg, it never feels like it is an fps.

Hmm, well even if it is distracting I still can't not get it. Especially now I know Bryn has it. Bought using his pension funds, no doubt.

I think it was Fallout 3 anyway, it was whatever Bantha put in his bargain basement for £20, I bought it for my bro for Winterval.

I got it. I put in 70 hours and got all the achievements bar 6 (the neutral/evil ones) and I still want more. Plus I want a Perk where Ron Perlman just narrates everything you do. If they can't get Ron, they can use Keith David instead.
...And Rab's right. Those kids wouldn't survive on that bus.

no. it has to be ron perlman. shouldnt be a problem though, cause as far as i can tell, ron perlman is always available for videogame voice work.

Funnily enough, he's going to be in Chronicles of Riddick this year!
I like it at the end where if you let someone die, Ron basically calls you a 'coward' in the narration....and Ron calling you a coward is basically him calling you a pussy and wanting a fight. I felt like I had to redo the ending cos of the way he said it....which I did.

does anyone know if whether or not you have your weapon drawn has any bearing on if people attack you or not? characters with names, i mean. theres been several times when ive come across people (with my weapon drawn) out in the wastes and theyll start kicking off and trying to kill me. ive had to kill them when id rather have just had a nice chat or something.
there was one incident in particular that i felt bad about. id been exploring these tunnels in the far southeast corner of the map. the tunnel system was large and id been getting deeper and deeper into them for some time. finally i came to this section at the end with traps set up and 'keep out' signs all over the place. having only encountered only radroaches and feral ghouls living there up until that point, i was only expecting to find more of the same. i entered the room the traps were guarding, gun drawn, only to be shotgunned by the ghoul who was living there. naturally, i killed him.
now that he was dead, i took a closer look around the room and it was clear hed set himself up a nice, cozy little hideaway. everything was neat and clean. there were decorations and a nuka-cola machine. it looked like he just wanted a nice, peaceful life away from the horrors of the waste. he was wearing a party hat when i shot him. i think it was his birthday. i bust into his home and shot him dead on his birthday.

People don't shoot you unless you shoot first (unless they're evil). Unless he was part of the Srictly Business sidequest. Either way. I played all the main sidequests and he's not someone I came across as important. Important people just faint and come back later...even though you just pumped more led into them than wood at a pencil factory.
Meh, in any case Banth....you ruthless, uncaring bar stewart.
